Off-Market Unit Transfers

Caruso streamlines registry operations and helps fund managers stay audit-ready. As part of this update, fund managers can now transfer units between investors themselves without any assistance. This automatically updates the registry and notifies both investors, helping to reduce administrative costs, time, and human error.

A transfer can be initiated from within a fund or within an investing entity’s holding. From there, admin users can simply search for the receiving investing entity and enter any transfer details, such as the number of units and price per unit. To streamline this process, admin users will see the available units and the estimated price per unit by default.

Fund managers can quickly enter and confirm the details of a transfer to trigger several automated actions. Both fund managers using the admin app and investors using the investor portal will immediately be able to see the transaction in the transaction ledger. Parties to the transaction will receive an email notifying them of the transfer, including details of the transfer. You can learn more about investor communication preferences here.

Caruso’s rich reporting suite surfaces transactions such as transfers to help fund managers quickly understand historical ownership movements. This registry data can be exported to support fund operations like tax apportionment, pre-emptive rights processes and third-party audits, among other uses.

In the future, fund managers can tag a transfer as being between related parties or related funds (parent and sub-funds), and these tags will pull through to all reporting regarding unit movement.
