Caruso Audit Log

Fund managers navigate an increasingly demanding landscape where operational transparency isn't merely advantageous—it's imperative. With heightened regulatory expectations and growing investor scrutiny, maintaining precise records of system activities forms the foundation of strong governance and risk management frameworks. Today, we're introducing Caruso's Audit Log, a robust feature designed to provide fund managers with comprehensive visibility into critical data changes throughout their ecosystem.

Enhanced Governance and Oversight

The Audit Log functions as a live, always-on record of high-impact changes throughout the Caruso platform. This feature addresses a fundamental need for fund managers, to maintain clear visibility of who changed what, when, and where within their operations. Caruso's Audit Log Report further provides the documentation if fund managers need to demonstrate proper oversight and governance to both internal stakeholders and external regulators.

Finding what you need

The Audit Log interface and supporting Audit Log Report have been designed with busy operations teams in mind, allowing fund managers to find specific activities. Users can filter and review key details including:

  • Application Source: Distinguish between changes made in the Admin Application versus the Investor Portal
  • Record Type: Filter by specific record categories including Accounts, Prospects, Investing Entities, Funds, and Offers
  • User Attribution: Identify changes made by specific admin users
  • Granular Dates: Narrow results to a particular date and time
  • Description: More detail about what changed

Operations teams can quickly identify relevant changes without sifting through unrelated activity—saving valuable time when investigating an investor query.

Comprehensive Event Tracking

The Audit Log captures a wide spectrum of critical events across the platform, including:

  • Creation of new prospects, accounts, and investing entities
  • Key updates to account details (email, phone number, legal name)
  • Modifications to investing entity details (registration numbers, tax information, nature and purpose declarations)
  • Changes to fund settings (legal structure, investor types, unit precision)
  • Task management activities (creation, assignment, completion)
  • Admin user activities, including investor impersonation sessions

This breadth of coverage ensures that fund managers have visibility into the most important changes affecting their operations and investor relationships.

Practical Applications

The Audit Log serves multiple practical purposes for fund management teams:

  • Compliance Verification: Quickly access evidence of proper processes for internal or external audits
  • Issue Resolution: Trace the history of changes when troubleshooting discrepancies
  • Security Monitoring: Identify unexpected or unauthorized changes to critical data
  • Operational Oversight: Maintain awareness of team activities and system modifications

Flexible Reporting

For more extensive analysis or record-keeping, teams can download the complete Audit Log Report from the Reports section. This exported data can be filtered, sorted, and analyzed using standard spreadsheet tools, making it easy to generate custom reports for specific purposes.

For example, operations teams can:

  • Review all changes related to a specific investing entity by filtering the "Associated Record" column
  • Identify all modifications to fund settings by filtering on the "Fund" event type
  • Export date-specific activity for quarterly compliance reviews

Ongoing Enhancements

While the current Audit Log already provides substantial visibility, we recognize that different fund managers have unique tracking requirements. We've designed this feature to be extensible, allowing us to incorporate additional event types based on customer feedback and evolving industry needs.

The Audit Log represents another step in our commitment to providing fund managers with the tools they need to operate efficiently, maintain compliance, and reduce operational risk.
